Dates to Know for 2014

Here are the dates you should keep on your fridge for this summer and rest of 2014:

  • Community Yard Sales – 7/11-12 & 7/18-19  (Friday to Saturday)
The Yard Sale event helps our community organize a full sub community sale, so our members can walk around and purchase something from neighbours or friends in the area.

  • Cleanup Dumpsters – Drop off: 7/10 & Pickup 7/20
The annual dumpster delivery helps homeowners get rid of larger junk or garbage that they may not be able to do on regular curb drop off.  We will have 2 large bins located for refuse disposal, simply deposit all items into containers.

More Winter weather coming our way…

We have some more winter weather coming our way to Ypsilanti. Forecasted at starting tonight (3/11/2014) and we might get another 6 inches of snow.

No worries Monday night or Tuesday during the day, though. Skies will be clear to partly cloudy overnight with lows in the low to mid-30s. It will start getting cloudy on Tuesday, with highs in the low 40s.

It gets interesting on Tuesday night. Rain showers will develop early in the evening and then gradually turn into some wet snow as colder air works its way in, but I don’t expect much accumulation Tuesday evening. Sometime after midnight, the snow will pick up in intensity and it should be snowing pretty heavily by dawn Wednesday (potentially more thundersnow?).

Advertising our website to the community

If you just got here by seeing our sandwich sign, then welcome! We are making an effort to actively advertise our website to our community in order to build the wealth of information for everyone to use.  If you are making changes to your property or need to find a phone number for a service, then this is a great starting point.

A few members have already made great suggestions for content improvements, and we will be working on those actively going forward (like a list of recommended contractors or landscapers for personal use).  If you have an idea, don’t be shy please let the board know and we will do our best to make it happen!

So if this is your first time here, please sign up for our newsletter, and you will get periodic updates from us in your mailbox (1-2 maximum a month, we promise!) Your email will be kept private and not shared with any outside parties (we hate SPAM too!)

Shake Your Mailbox Day

Governor Snyder has proclaimed October 19, 2013 as the Annual Shake Your Mailbox Day in Michigan. Shake Your Mailbox Day is a joint effort on the part of the Washtenaw County Road Commission and the United States Postal Service. The day is designated to get the public involved in proactive mailbox maintenance. Residents should prepare mailboxes for winter by tightening screws and ensuring the post and receptacle are secure enough to endure large amounts of thrown snow. If the mailbox moves when shaken, this is likely an indication the mailbox and/or post may not withstand standard snow removal operations and should be repaired or replaced prior to the onset of winter.
