Board Meeting in the Park

We tried something new, our last meeting was held in our very own main park and had a great attendance from our community. We were able to capitalize on good weather and beat out the thunderstorms by a few hours to have a meeting in person.

Thank you again for the community members and your questions. We are a board of volunteers and are elected to be your representatives in for the community.

If you are interested in becoming a board member, please email the board, let us know who you are, and what drives you to be a board member. How do you see yourself playing an active role in our community.

Please find attached the presentation and agenda for our meeting.

If you need to report something in the community, please either call KCPS or email your concerns to report@wmypsi.org. See you at the next meeting!

We have a new board member joining!

We have not had many updates on our website recently. In part this has been due to some historical events and largely the Pandemic took hold and many of us just focused on family and ourselves. I wanted to address that real quick and get it out of the way — we are trying to do better and as our board grows we can focus on more externally visible changes.

For those that are not aware the Whispering Meadows board is entirely volunteer based, there is no compensation, no discount or benefit other than contributing and helping drive your community around you. On that topic, the board has been bare-bones of 3 individuals, and that has simply reduced our ability to focus on the day to day operation of the community (handling budget concerns, planning improvements, addressing fixes or things that need addressing, and of course following up on reported infractions and/or concerns).

However we are happy to announce that we’ve got a new board member joining us — Welcome Glenn!

As we’ve done in the past with volunteers, we allow board members to interview with the current board, talk about their goals and what they are passionate in helping with. The plan is to formally introduce a vote for the new board member at our (yet to be scheduled) Annual General Meeting (AGM) for 2021.

So stand by for more updates, we are hoping to drive more focus on more communication and social media focus than in the past 1-2 years.

Spring / Summer Cleaning Dumpsters and locations – June 2020

As is our annual tradition, our spring / summer cleaning dumpsters will be available for our community to utilize to dispose of items in bulk. We will have two dumpsters rented and placed in the North and West of our community on the open empty lots.

Dumpsters will arrive June 12th and be picked up Monday June 15th

By moving the location from the entrace to the North lot, it enables us to make sure this dumpster is not abused by folks that might be driving by and emptying their garbage out of convenience. We’ve seen the dumpster in the past overloaded and overflowing which caused a problem for removal and cleanup.

Upcoming Summer Holiday and Events update

Whispering Meadows Garage Sale

Our annual community Yard sale will be held in starting 7/12 through 7/14.  So get all your dusty stuff ready that you don’t need anymore that still has some value and sell sell sell!  The board has put up some notifications at Textile and Tuttle to funnel in some traffic.  As always we are looking for volunteers to help with notifications and updates. Please inquire with the board on more.

July 4th week and Fireworks Ordinance

As the holiday week nears, it is very important to know that we have many different neighbors. Some are very sensitive to late night explosives being set off.  The Ypsilanti Township has revised its ordinances and a post is available on their site, but in short:

Independence Day Fireworks permitted beginning the Saturday preceding and through the week leading up to July 4th, and July 5th if it falls on a Friday or Saturday 11:00am – 11:45pm.

A violation of the fireworks ordinance is a municipal civil infraction punishable by a $1,000 fine for each infraction.

2nd Attempt Whispering Meadows HOA Annual Meeting 2/15/2018 at 6:30PM

We have our 2nd attempt at the Annual Home Owner Association (HOA) Meeting coming up on February 15th in the Ypsilanti Township building at 7PM (6:30PM Registration start!). Main conference room (come in through the main doors and the hall is on the right hand side, plenty of seating and easy to get to). We are forced to do a 2nd attempt as we were too few to reach quorum (which is required to vote).

Topics to go over

We need to reach quorum and will be voting to changing some bylaws pertinent to the community. A new approach this time around in order to encourage more people to come out is the availability of $100 gift card that will be randomly drawn for a lucky attendee, just to say thank you for participating in your local community and helping drive our local association.

Connect with your association

Consider joining the the board of directors and helping drive your community in the future. Check out the outline for board member responsibilities and get an idea of what you would take on in joining.  Take part!

Please don’t park across sidewalks!

We have had numerous reports in the community of people parking their cars and BLOCKING sidewalks. Please be aware that this is a ticket-able offense. We have mothers with strollers, kids on bikes and other walkers having to enter the street due to illegally parked cars.

Be aware that our local police will be on the lookout for these infractions, so consider this a friendly warning. Please report repeat offenders to report@wmypsi.org
